Tximista Vermouth Rojo is a pioneering, handcrafted Spanish sweet vermouth made from a 100% Getariako Txakolina white wine base. Produced by the fifth-generation Eizaguirre family at the Talai Berri estate in Zarautz, it is the first vermouth of its kind to be crafted entirely from the indigenous Hondarrabi Zuri grape. Its name, "Tximista" (pronounced chee-MEES-ta), translates to "lightning" in Basque, reflecting its bright, electric flavor profile. Unlike conventional sweet vermouths, Tximista Rojo preserves the coastal freshness, distinctive salinity, and high acidity inherent to Txakoli wine.
Nose: Highly aromatic and complex, leading with grapefruit, raspberry, ginger, smoked cherry, and baking spices.
Palate: A deeply layered balance of sweet and savory. Crisp notes of burnt orange zest, green apple, and wild mountain herbs clash beautifully against a bitter, tannic wormwood backdrop.
Finish: Clean, slightly saline, and long, concluding with notes of toast, vanilla, and dark caramel.
