Wine: Fractura Fig. 5 2023 Skin Contact SB
Producer: Fractura
Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
Region: Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California
Weight: 750mL
ABV: 14%
Notes: This one's got a cool cornelian color with a touch of coral flair. In the glass, you’ll get dried fruits, zesty citrus, and a tamarind twist that sticks around just long enough to make you smile. On the nose, it’s all about those juicy stone fruits, with a nod to apricot’s sweeter side.
This wine hails from Marco Antonio Moreno’s young vineyard in Valle de Guadalupe, where the vines were planted in 2012 on a mix of clay and sandy soil. These grapes are picked on the same day to keep that fresh acidity vibe going strong. After a relaxed fermentation in stainless steel, the juice gets a two-week maceration vacation with skins and seeds, followed by a gentle pressing. It then chills out in neutral barrels with its lees for 10 months, getting all kinds of smooth and complex.
Pair this gem with anything from starters to fatty fish like salmon or sardines, or even a sweet dessert or a selection of cheeses. Fig. 5 is ready to play nice with your entire meal!
