Producer: HIYU Wine Farm
Smockshop Band 2020 Pinot Noir - A dense, meaty Pinot Noir. Dark spices and burnished leather. A more traditionally styled wine for Hiyu.
Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Region: Columbia Gorge, OR
ABV: 12.5%
Notes: Strawberry brick in color, black raspberry, burnished leather, and flamboyant dark spices on the palate. “While other Pinot Noir based wines that we make tend to be made as ephemeral, delicate infusions, this is closer to a traditionally styled wine. This feels closest to a Gevrey-Chambertin from an old-fashioned producer like Alain Burguet or Joseph Roty. This wine is extremely dense and meaty without losing any sense of varietal purity.”
Tzum 2022 Cabernet Blend ‘Fèis’ - This is a perfumed Cabernet-dominant blend, woodsy with ripe red and black fruit.
Variety: Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Tannat, Abouriou, Fer, Ste. Macaire, Manseng Noir, etc.
Region: Columbia Gorge, WA
ABV: 11.5%
Notes: The wines expresses itself as pure perfume, more like an enveloping cloud than a liquid. It smells like a thicket, bramble or hedge; of leaves dense with aromatic oils, ripe raspberry, blackberry and plum, the pollen laden legs of bees and red rust that somehow contains the essence of summer.
Tzum 2022 Albariño ‘Eventyr’ - This Albariño is golden in color, with alpine floral notes and mango, honey and fresh pastries on the palate.
Variety: Albariño
Region: Columbia Gorge, OR
ABV: 13%
Notes: Golden in color with flavors of honey and alpine flowers, mango and fresh pasteries. This wine always tastes more like dry GG Riesling than Albariño and this vintage takes the feeling to baroque heights held in only by the wines ultimately Alpine identity.
Tzum 2022 Coferment ‘Sean Nós’ - Light strawberry pink in color, this conferment has flavors of strawberries and dark spice, honeysuckle and purple basil.
Variety: Pink Negramoll, Listan Negro, Malvasia Fina, Mission, Palomino, Babosa Negro
Region: Columbia Gorge, WA
ABV: 11.5%
Notes: Translucent strawberry pink in color, like peach stained with pomegranate. Flavors of strawberries infused with dark spices, honeysuckle and purple basil. It is a step further than “orange wine” in a sense. In one moment it can feel like an exotic and intoxicatingly floral white and just seconds later it will have transitioned into a more bloody and sanguine mode.
