Wine: La Ferme de Jeanne 2018 Bugey Gamay
Producer: La Ferme de Jeanne
Region: Beaujolais, France
Notes: La Ferme de Jeanne is a small, organic Domaine situated in the Bugey region, between the Massif Grand Colombier and the right bank of the Rhône River. This is a wild and rural part of France not internationally famous for its wines, but maintains a loyal group of followers. Bugey only received AOC status in 2009, which was a significant step in proving to the broader wine community that its elegant, expressive wines deserved to be taken seriously. Gamay, as you may have realized, is one of our favorite varietals. This rare Bugey gamay is a tawny red rustic beauty with a sustained and limpid intensity. All occasions are good to share this charming and unifying grape variety with a rich and fruity taste intensity. A real treat of gourmet red fruits on the nose, strawberry and blackberry melted on the palate in a soft manner, with a fresh acidity and little tannin. The wines are humble, country wines, with a liveliness and freshness that evokes the beautiful region from which they hail. We’re confident to say that we embrace Gamays from Bugey and hope you do too!
