At Casablanca Market, our saffron is sourced from a remote region of Morocco near the town of Taliouine. The ideal climate, with warm summers, bitter cold winters, and volcanic-like soil, makes it possible for local farmers to produce some of the world's finest saffron threads.

Every stage of the production process is done by hand, mainly by female workers who have honed their skills for generations. The harvest takes place during a short month in the late fall, when the raw saffron is extracted from the lilac-colored flowers. It takes 150 flowers to produce a single gram of precious saffron threads.
